RADIO STATION MANAGER CHARGED WITH RAPE

“HINILOT ko ang kanyang paa at likod. Ang kanyang kaliwang kamay naman ay hinahaplos ang aking hita pataas sa aking ari. Inutusan niya ako na yakapin ko siya na ’di ko naman ginawa, at inalis ko ang kanyang kamay.” Thus May (not her real name), 18, narrated in her sworn statement as she filed rape charges against Ariel Ayque, station manager of DWZR, before the Legazpi City Prosecutor’s Office.A report submitted by PO2 Menica P. Watiwat to police Supt. Benjamin G. Castillo showed May is the daughter of Ayque’s housemaid. Ayque, of Central City Subd., Bgy. Cruzada, Legazpi City, was allegedly a former DZGB station manager. May, elementary graduate, of Bgy. Mariawa, also of this city, claimed Ayque raped her past 1 a.m. on Nov. 27 last year inside his room. The accused’s wife was in Manila when the tragedy supposedly occurred. In a sworn affidavit executed before Assistant City Prosecutor Ruben Dario T. Nuqui, May said Ayque required her to work late on Nov. 27. Since his wife was not around, the radioman allegedly ordered the victim to prepare the “embutido”. “Sinabihan niya na ako na lang ang magmasa ng gagawing embutido,” May said in her statement. May added that the suspect, whom she called Kuya Ariel, asked her to massage him in his room. “Kinuha (ko) ang painkiller sa ibabaw ng maliit na mesa sa loob mismo ng kanyang kuwarto at hinilot ko na siya,” the victim said. The victim claimed she kept pleading “’Wag po, kuya,” when the suspect started fondling her thighs. May said she tried to escape, but Ayque grabbed her arm, shoved her into the sofa and mashed her breasts. The victim claimed the radioman succeeded in raping her. The victim said that after the alleged rape, Ayque told her in Bicol: “ Gigibohon ko pa ini saimo kung dai pa mag-abot sa agom ko” (Gagawin ko pa ulit sa iyo ito kapag hindi pa dumating ang misis ko)!” Tonight gathered that Ayque started as announcer/commentator at DZRC-AM then moved atiwat to police Supt. He later became vice president for operations at DZGB. Ayque has reportedly been convicted of libel for a commentary in one of his radio programs. He allegedly didn’t spend time in jail as he immediately applied for probation, being a first-offender. Tonight’s repeatedly tried to get Ayque’s side. However, efforts to interview him proved futile as he was not available for comment.
